Top Rated Binge-Worthy Spanish TV Shows to Watch Now

Spanish TV shows are seriously awesome! They’ve got a great storyline, amazing plot twists, and most of all, the emotions are spectacular. If you’ve seen Money Heist, then you probably know what I’m talking about, and what we’re going to explore now. This list compiles the top-rated Spanish TV shows that you should watch right now if haven’t already.

Most of these shows are available on Netflix and other popular streaming platforms. I’ve been using Cox Contour to access the collection through various channels and streaming platforms. You can reach out to Cox customer service or Cox Servicio al Cliente en Español to get a plan just like I did, and stream content with a breeze.

That said, let’s begin our list.

Vis a Vis – IMDb: 8.1

If you’re looking for a prison-themed show, then Vis a Vis (Locked Up) is a great pick. When it comes to such shows, you expect an amazing plot, and this show understands it very well.

The actors are truly in the characters they play, which makes the emotions raw and unfiltered, giving the best experience. I was pretty much hoping for the story to take an unexpected turn, and it did with every episode and season.

In my opinion, the show could’ve gone on longer than 4 seasons but that would’ve dragged the story, and as most people said, the emotional rollercoaster needed to end.

Velvet – IMDb: 8.0

Another amazing hit from the Spanish arsenal, this show will surely hit your entertainment nerves just like it did mine. With a plot around the elite class and their lifestyle, it shows how they have to maintain the ‘lifestyle’ while silencing the ‘harrowing’ events they dive into.

It’s mysterious, and you’ll surely love the wardrobes showcased because that’s what it’s mostly about. The music fits perfectly to the scenes, and well, there’s death in about every episode or so. Just be ready to watch a twisting drama because that’s what it’s about.

Elite – IMDb: 7.1

Elite focuses on the story of privileged high school kids enrolled at Las Encinas luxury educational institute. Everything goes smoothly until 3 students from the working class enroll in the school, leading to quarrels. As these clashes increase, we see the emotional yet cunning drama unfold. The buildup is so great that you remain on the edge of your seat til the end.

Gran Hotel – IMDb: 8.3

This is a fairly old pick but given its rating, it’s definitely worth it. If you’ve watched Downtown Abbey, you might get an idea of what it’s about, but I believe it’s better. The striking element about it is how it’s able to show a plethora of twists that hook you emotionally.

And, of course, how dubious the characters, especially the villains are, which makes the show even more appealing. If you’re like me, you’ll love the chemistry of the characters and enjoy the show even more. I wish it could’ve continued longer, but 3 seasons feel enough too.

Berlin – IMDb: 7.0

I wish it was as fantastic as the character itself played in Money Heist. Still, the show was interesting enough. But I felt that the story was dragged. Maybe it was because the creators wanted to build a connection with one of the greatest successes.

We love the character and the actor as well. But how amazingly it was played in Money Heist raised our expectations– at least mine. Still, I would say that the show surely serves entertainment and will provide a great viewing experience.

As always, Berlin (Pedro Alonso) is simply alluring during the entire show and the cast definitely serves the show’s requirements. The second season isn’t out yet so catch up to it if you haven’t.

Cable Girls – IMDb: 7.5

I would surely recommend this show to women because it’s about women's empowerment in the early 1900s. Not only that, it shows how difficult was it for women to earn a living when everything was about men.

It highlights the vices of the society that still haunt women today, and I feel that it wasn’t enough. Still, the series did show how resilient women are and can handle anything life throws at them.

The characters are beautifully played, and yet with all the mundane stories, you find something extraordinary in almost every scene.

Narcos – IMDb: 8.7

The rating says it all!

Watching this show means signing up to get on a journey into the world of international drug trafficking. You will get to see the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar and the Medlin cartel in this crime drama. It is a MUST-WATCH!

Some Notable Mentions
