Covergirl Clean Sensitive Skin Liquid Foundation Review

As one of the major producers of cosmetics, of course Covergirl would get into the sensitive skin market. That is where their Clean line of products come in. These products are not only hypoallergenic, but they are advertised a “breathable” makeup so your skin doesn’t get clogged by them and starts breaking out. How liquid foundation would ever be called “breathable” is a mystery, but here is it.

Covergirl Clean Sensitive Skin liquid foundation is pretty on the nose with its name. It is liquid foundation for those with sensitive skin that is irritated by other products, but does it actually work out?

While it is true that Covergirl Clean liquid foundation is without many of the animal and plant byproducts as well as the many chemicals that have been found to irritate skin, it is still guilty of having two. Strangely enough, it is the two that most people buy liquid foundation to avoid – mica and talc. These two processed natural minerals aren’t toxic, but when used in makeup, their sharp edges are responsible for irritating skin.

However, if your sensitivity is not to mica or talc, then how does Covergirl Clean stack up as an actually foundation? Well, not so great actually. The good news is that it goes on very thin. Most times you need at least two layers because it looks like you aren’t wearing any foundation at all, so you pretty much need to dump a whole bottle on your face before you get that cakey look on your skin. As this liquid foundation is without an oil base, it is no surprise that it goes on a little looser, though.

One thing of note, while I have yet to experience this myself, there is a disturbing rumor that the color consistency from bottle to bottle is slightly different.

Covergirl, you had one job.

Joke aside, this is still an unconfirmed rumor, but an oddly widespread one. That aside, considering that Covergirl Clean is without many common irritants, even if it does have two, there are worse liquid foundation products to use. As it is so affordable, it also isn’t exactly a major problem that you might need to use two coats to get results either. We all want to look great including using luxury cosmetic from brands Nars and Laura Mercier but healthy skin is the ultimate luxury.
