If you have normal, albeit sensitive, skin you probably don’t need to invest in separate concealers and foundations. This is why concealer-and-foundation hybrids like Beyond Perfecting by Clinique are so prevalent. However, typically the hybrids use much more chemicals and worse – parebens – to get their desired effect. Does Clinique, a brand known for their dermatologist-approved products, feature the same failings?
I won’t leave you in suspense, it doesn’t. In fact, Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer is one of the few liquid concealers that doesn’t include parabens strategically hidden inside its ingredients list. Although it features a small paragraph of ingredients with names that no one understands, none of them have really been flagged as irritants except for the inclusion of soy protein which could be a problem for some.
Since Clinique’s concealer and foundation look pretty safe for sensitive skin, how does it work as an actual product?
As it is also a concealer, meant to pave in any rough spots and cover any dark patches, it is thicker than your usually foundation, but once it dries it doesn’t feel thick on the face and actually works pretty great. However, if you want that pristine silky smooth matte look to your face, you will also want to find a good finishing powder for it.
Honestly, the biggest complaint is how small the bottle is. They could get away with it for just a concealer since you might not need it on your whole face, but for a product that is also foundation, a little more is needed for the price tag.
